Drink driving deaths UP by 25%

Drink-drive related road deaths rose by 25% last year, with a staggering one in six fatalities on the UK’s roads connected to alcohol consumption, according to the latest government figures. Department for Transport (DfT) data revealed that 290 people lost their lives through drink-drive crashes during 2012, marking a significant increase from the 230 individuals killed in 2011. Citroen DS3 at 2009 Frankfurt motor show

It is a brave decision by Citroen to revive the DS badge – standing for déesse (or goddess) and first seen on the pioneering 1950s DS. Based on the next C3, the DS3 is the first of a new range of ‘near-premium’ models, which will eventually include posher DS4 and DS5 derivatives based on future C4 and C5 models.

Land Rover has revealed a surprisingly comprehensive facelift for the Discovery range here at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show – and the firm has underlined the changes with some new badging for the Discovery range. Instead of having ‘LAND ROVER’ on the bonnet, the new Discovery has, well, ‘DISCOVERY’ lettering. That’s because Land Rover wants to make Discovery into its own brand, a bit like Range Rover: here at Frankfurt 2013, we’re seeing the first steps in this rebranding.
